Tyreece John-Jules: The Low Down

Derby County have signed forward Tyreece John-Jules on loan from Arsenal. The 22 year old spent last season on loan with Ipswich Town. What can he bring to The Rams? We spoke with Richard Moss from Talking Town - ITFC to find out more about him!

Tyreece John-Jules has been linked with a move to Derby. What do you make of it? Are you surprised that he would be looking to go back out on loan to another League One club?

I was impressed with John-Jules last season. Unfortunately his time at the club was cut short by injury, which has what has hampered him during his career so far. A fit TJJ is an asset at League One level, in my opinion.

John-Jules played 21 times last season for Ipswich and scored three goals. How did he perform?

He did a lot of his best work for Town off the bench, scoring his first goal as a sub at home to Cambridge.

How would you sum up his time at Portman Road?

His time at Portman Road, as said above, was unfortunately cut short by injury. He was a popular person around the group, and played during the first half of the season.

He’s a striker. What type of striker is he? Is he a hold up player? Does he run into the channels?

John-Jules can play across the front positions, he is very good technically, which you would expect from a player that has come through the Arsenal academy.

What are his strengths? What are his weaknesses?

I would say his strengths are his technical ability, and that he plays in all of the front positions. He's a player who can stretch the game with his pace and can take up some good positions in the box. His weaknesses would be, that he doesn't score enough goals and his injury record.

What other elements to his game are there?

Take a look at the goal he scored against Shrewsbury away, he weaved his way past three players. He's a good dribbler and strong in possession.

Is he someone who relies on service for goals or can he create chances on his own?

As mentioned above, he is a player who can carve something out of nothing with his dribbling ability.

Do you think John-Jules can be good player in League One for Derby?

If The Rams can keep him injury free, he will be a good signing at League One level. He has the potential to play in the Championship, he just needs to keep fit and play games.
