Boro Want Us Buried!

Rams Review contributor Andy Buckley-Taylor gives his thoughts on the upcoming week for Derby County.

So we have learned that come 1st February, Derby County will be expelled from the Football League, if they do not show they have funds to see out the season.

It is the harsh reality of the mess left by Mel Morris CBE (for services to business! What a a joke!)

We have taken our 21 point deduction, three players have already left the club and we could be down to a bare minimum of players within the next couple of weeks. This will force us to play youngsters who have maybe been nowhere near the first team. This certainly is not good for their careers, especially when many will have to be fast tracked to the starting line up of the first team.

Its fair to say players like Max Bird, Louie Sibley. Jason Knight, etc., will be on the shopping lists of many teams, as the vultures prepare to dive in and pick up players at bargain prices.

Now all of this would not be necessary but for the action by Middlesbrough and Wycombe Wanderers. They are trying to get our club to cough up over £50m between them.

In the case of Middlesbrough, it is no great secret that their owner Steve Gibson does not like our club, however his actions won’t be hurting the person who created the mess. No, his actions and that of his Wycombe counterpart will only punish fans, players, coaches, staff etc.

Because of their actions this club cannot be sold!

Now other clubs in the past have progressed by breaking FFP including Bournemouth, at Middlesbrough’s expense, but no such action was taken against them.

We have taken our punishment, but Mr. Gibson wants to go further. I’ve said in the past that football is starting to be decided by accountants well this will mean that the law courts will now be involved.

If these owners won’t budge it’ll be the end of Derby County! They will then be left with nothing as the club is liquidated, so that shows in my opinion the destructive intent of this pair.

They may get the last laugh, but football fans won’t forgive this pair for being responsible for hammering the final nail in the coffin of our club. History won’t reflect their actions well.

Hopefully a miracle can happen. This off field news though has myself and many others I suspect distracted form Saturdays business against our closest rivals. Hopefully the team can bring us more good news on the pitch.
