2 Weeks to save Derby

Guest Blogger Elliott has his say on the recent news or lack there of at Derby.

Derby still remain in the relegation zone at the mid-point of the season and desperately need some additions in order to survive. An expected takeover which has failed to, as yet, materialise is currently doing more harm than good for the club. Fans expected the takeover to be complete way before the the January transfer window opened and fully expected to see some additions through the doors by now.

We are now halfway through the transfer window and the situation at Derby is looking bleak. There are constant delays and excuses coming from club as to why the takeover has not materialised. If a takeover was ‘imminent’ then why are the club on the brink of administration, unable to pay their players and being forced to sell their prized assets. The rams could well find themselves worse off at the end of the window than at the start with their best players finding new clubs where they would actually get paid.

Derby County Football Club is currently being dragged through the mud and it is inexcusable. Fans are losing patience with the club not only because of the constant delays with the takeover but the lack of communication for refunds of tickets going back to the start of last year. It is clear to all that the club does not put the fans first and they are seen as more of a consumer base than a fan base. Those that chose the options to still pay the club a sum of money for a season ticket this year should be pitied as they have received very little or their hard earned cash and should be treated better.

Whether anything will materialise from the proposed takeover remains to be seen but most Derby fans are resigned to the fact it won’t happen and the club is essentially League One bound. It is unlikely any new players will sign and ultimately the club will struggle to survive and remain in the Championship.
